Bench note · why the groove, not the clip
The clip is named by the shaft it fits (Ø10), but you cut the groove: Ø9.6, 1.1 wide, 0.2 deep. Square corners at the bottom so the clip sits flat against the side.
Bench note · why outside pliers
A shaft clip (DIN 471) is opened to go on: outside pliers. Open it only as far as it takes to pass the shaft; stretched too far it stays loose in the groove.
